Superior Motors Buick GMC is part of the Superior Automotive
Group of Orangeburg. Other stores include Superior Honda and
Superior Kia. We are a GM franchised dealer offering New
Buick-GMC model vehicles, quality used cars, trucks and
crossover vehicles. We also have an on sight service
department, parts department and body shop. Superior Motors
serves areas from Charleston to Orangeburg to Columbia to
Greenville and beyond. Superior Motors owners and employees

In 1961, Mr. James M. Guthrie Sr. became the owner of the
Superior Motors.
In an unfortunate accident, the original sight of Superior Motors burned
to the ground on January 14, 1964. Temporary mobile homes were
moved onto the lot to operate out of and the service department
was moved to a location on Russell Street. Business continued
until construction of the new site at the corner of Highway 301
and 21 By-pass was completed on April 29, 1964.
Mr. Guthrie and his son, Jimmy, served the community for many
years side by side providing superior new and used cars and
trucks, parts and services until the very sad passing of Mr.
Guthrie Sr. in 2008. Jimmy Guthrie has soley carried on
his father's legacy since. He has continued to build a solid
reputation for excellent product and services with ever evolving
customer service and satisfaction.
